Jacob and Vince Sign Contracts

Both Jacob Mingle and Vinnie O’Sullivan have signed new contracts that tie them to the Club until the end of season 2005-06.

Jacob signed for Ashford on a permanent basis from Staines Town quite recently, following three loan spells and has become a key member of Ashford’s midfield.  The contract has been signed as part of the deal that brought Jacob to the Club.

Vinnie, despite being only 22 years of age, has already racked up 279 1st Team appearances for the Club.  Whilst he can play anywhere in defence or midfield, he has settled this season at right-back and is without doubt one of the Club’s key assets.

Ashford are delighted that both players have committed themselves to the Club for next season.

Wed 9 Mar

Southern Youth League – East Division

Ashford U-18  1    Cobham U-18  3

Ashford paid the price for missing several chances, especially early on, as Cobham hit two late goals to secure the win.  Ashford’s goal came from Matt Baxter.

Manager Len Wellard and Assistant Manager Mark Deacon have now been appointed as the Under-18 Management team for next season.

Tomorrow’s Match at Brackley

Departure time from the Club will now be 11.30 a.m. (meet 11.15) and not as previously advised.

Chairman’s Birthday

On Tuesday 8 March, Ashford Chairman Bob Parker celebrated his 65th birthday.  There will be a celebration at the Club this coming Saturday evening when anyone knowing Bob is welcome to attend.

After joining the Club in 1966, Bob did just about every job going, including Manager, before graduating to Chairman in 1982, even playing the odd match or two, although he would be the first to agree that he was always more useful off the field than on it..

For many years he has been the driving force behind the Club as they have risen from the Hounslow & District League through the Surrey Intermediate, the Surrey Premier, the Combined Counties and into the Isthmian and now the Southern League acquiring and improving their own ground on the way.

He also managed the very successful Matthew Arnold Sunday side in the 70’s and 80’s and was a qualified referee.
